RLSS Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis
If you work anywhere near food and catering, this qualification is a must have! The RLSS Level 2 Basic Life Support (BLS) and Anaphylaxis course is suitable for anyone, no prior first aid knowledge is required. This will equip you with the skills you need to deal with a cardiac arrest (a casualty who is not breathing), including how and when to perform CPR, the Recovery Position and use of an Autoinjector to one day potentially save a life!
This course stand-alone is 4 hours – However check out our options below to combine this course with other courses to make it shorter whilst receiving 2 or more qualifications simultaneously!
Combining the Level 2 BLS & Anaphylaxis course with other courses
We often see the preference to combine the Level 2 BLS & Anaphylaxis course with other courses we offer, as it reduces the total course time, making good use of your space, time and money. This can be combined with the following courses:

The course will cover the following content:
- 🧐 Assessing an incident
- 🚑 Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty
- 🫀 CPR including AED
- 😷 Pocket mask
- 🛌 Recovery position
- ⚠️ Recognising a casualty with anaphylaxis
- 💉 Using an adrenaline auto-injector
The BLS & Anaphylaxis qualification is suitable for everyone, with no prior first aid required. In terms of who will get the most benefit from this qualification, we usually recommend the following job roles, but not limited to:
- Catering Workers
- Childcare & Education Workers (Such as Teachers)
- Remote Workers (such as tour guides & outdoor activity leaders)
- Venues where public dining is permitted (such as leisure centres, park & recreational workers)
Often other courses will include the content taught in the BLS & Anaphylaxis course (for example, the FAW course covers almost everything taught in the BLS & Anaphylaxis course); Check if the qualification you have/are looking to attend includes CPR, the Recovery Position and use of an Adrenaline Auto-Injector, if not then this qualification could be what you’re looking for!
The BLS & Anaphylaxis course is designed to be the first step to becoming a qualified First Aider, this means the course is suitable for most people. We recommend having the following to ensure you will maximise the chances of learning:
- Must be a minimum age of 16 years old
- To have the ability to kneel for a short period of time
- A basic level of English and hearing
Two years
There are three methods of assessment for this course:
- Continual observation throughout by the trainer
- Written Questions
- Practical Scenario Observations
We don’t want learners to worry about any assessment, as the trainer is there to help you through it and make sure you have the skills required after the course
You will receive the following certificate upon successful completion of the course:
- RLSS Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis
This qualification is Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications Wales accredited, compliant with Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and nationally recognised
To renew your current Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis qualification, you will need to re-do the course from start to finish, including any assessments
