Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Qualification

RLSS Level 2 Award in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Qualification

The RLSS Level 2 AED Qualification is suitable for anyone, no prior first aid knowledge is required. This will equip you with the skills you need to deal with a cardiac arrest (a casualty who is not breathing), including how and when to perform CPR and how and when to use an Automated External Defibrillator to one day potentially save a life!

This course stand-alone is 4 hours; However check out our options below to combine this course with other courses to make it shorter whilst receiving 2 or more qualifications simultaneously!

Combining the Level 2 AED course with other courses

We often see the preference to combine the Level 2 AED course with other courses we offer, as it reduces the total course time, making good use of your space, time and money. This can be combined with the following courses by extending the course time by 1.5 Hours:

The AED qualification is suitable for everyone in every environment. It is strongly recommended by the UK Government’s Health and Safety Executive that at an absolute minimum everyone should know how and when to perform CPR and use an AED, but should ideally have a relevant first aid certificate depending on the level of risk. If you have no certificates, we’d recommend completing this course at a minimum.

Often other courses will include the content taught in the AED course (for example, the EFAW course covers almost everything taught in the AED course); Check if the qualification you have/are looking to attend includes CPR and use of an AED, and if there are any sections on the AED course not taught in other course that you require

The AED course is designed to be the first step to becoming a qualified First Aider, this means the course is suitable for most people. We recommend having the following to ensure you will maximise the chances of learning:

  • Must be a minimum age of 16 years old
  • To have the ability to kneel for a short period of time
  • A basic level of English and hearing

Two years

There are three methods of assessment for this course:

  • Continual observation throughout by the trainer
  • Written Questions
  • Practical Scenario Observations

We don’t want learners to worry about any assessment, as the trainer is there to help you through it and make sure you have the skills required after the course

You will receive the following certificate upon successful completion of the course:

  • RLSS Level 2 Award in Automated External Defibrillator qualification

This qualification is OfqualCCEA and Qualifications Wales accredited, compliant with Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and nationally recognised

To renew your current AED qualification, you will need to re-do the course from start to finish, including any assessments

Yes! If you choose the RLSS option when picking the type of certificate you get (arranged prior to the course) then you can get:

2 CIMSPA Points

0 UCAS points
